Remember the acid jazz era? Let this mix take you back to 1994. Maybe you're in a record store, browsing the latest import 12-inches from Funki Porcini, Brand New Heavies and Jazzanova. Or maybe you're at the Up & Down Club in San Francisco, where Alphabet Soup is playing downstairs and DJs like Charlotte the Baroness and Romanowski are spinning upstairs. Or even if you're too young for all that and missed it, this will give you a taste. Go to VERadio.com for the playlist.

VE Radio is back! This week I grabbed some records from my set at WAX WEDNESDAYS, a weekly party presented by DJ RasCue and The Vinyl Exchange, at the Milk Bar in San Francisco. At Wax Wednesdays we play all '80s and '90s hip-hop on VINYL only! It's so much fun, you have to check us out if you're in the Bay Area. Add Wax Wednesdays as a friend on Myspace and go to VinylExchange.com/wax for the DJ schedule.
As always, check out VERadio.com for the complete tracklist

These records are left over from the Clash of the Titans party held at Anu Bar in San Francisco last Friday night, presented by Versus Magazine. It's '80s electro and bass heavy with some old funk and newer way-uptempo dancefloor jammies mixed in. Get your pop-lock on.
As always, check VERadio.com for the playlist.

Happy Father's Day! This week's "Yummy" mix includes newish (meaning not dusty) stuff by Tracey Thorn, Zongamin on Ed Banger, the Diplo mix of "Young Folks" and the new Kid Sister on the Fool's Gold label. Her label mates The Cool Kids are in town this Tuesday at Cafe Du Nord. AMG's classic "Jiggable Pie" is in here--AMG and DJ Quik, AKA the Fixxers, are at Mezzanine on Monday the 18th. Big ups to DJ Fourcolorzack in Seattle for reminding of "Glide" by Pleasure. (Check out his mix, "Weekday Warrior.")
Still recovering from Tall Can Marathon 2 yesterday. Check BeerandRap.com for the wrap-up on that soon.
Check the dedication to my dad at the end. For all my Filipinos out there.

Ladies first! "Fast Women" is an all uptempo, all-female rap mix. Some female emcees that are heard often are included, like MC Lyte and Queen Latifah, but there are a few seldom heard artists like Silk Tymes Leather (Jermaine Dupri protegees) and L.A. Star (who wasn't from L.A., by the way). It's not meant to be an all-inclusive female rap anthology by any means--it's only 30 minutes long. But an enjoyable 30 minutes, for sure. For the full tracklist of these records, check VERadio.com.
